CORPORATE & SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Here at Universal Live, we wholeheartedly believe in doing things the right way. Whether that’s approaching every event in the most sustainable way possible, offering apprenticeships or supporting a local charity, we always try our best to think about our impact, reducing the negative and maximising the positive.

SUSTAINABILITY

We believe that sustainability is not only our duty to the environment, but also our corporate responsibility as an ethical business. Over the years, we have taken many meaningful steps to make our events and day-to-day operations as sustainable as possible. The addition of a role within our team dedicated to sustainability and innovation further demonstrates our commitment to the cause. Currently, we are reducing our impact in the following areas:

KIT

Our hire equipment is always purchased with sustainability in mind. Our lighting fixtures are now 100% LED, and we’ve vastly reduced our use of single use AA batteries with the purchase of new rechargeable radio microphones.

Retired equipment is either donated to local causes who can still make use of it, or, if it is at the end of its life, it is recycled through a safe-disposal system. Working within the Audio Visual sector means that we are fully WEEE aware and compliant and receive regular updates on the safe disposal of electronic equipment (by the very nature of work we carry out we have to ensure that any electrical equipment is disposed of in a suitable manner via the WEEE process and act under license number NJJ725).

Even items such as flightcases are broken down into their component parts by our warehouse team and either re-used, recycled or responsibly disposed of accordingly.

SUPPLY CHAIN

We have removed all plastic products from our large-format print supply chain by working with suppliers commited to reducing their impact on the environment.

Our trucking supplier has been carefully chosen to ensure their commitment to reducing their environmental impact, and our Project Management & Support teams plan trucking carefully to reduce wastage and unnecessary journeys.

CHARITY

We are proud to support a charity that is both local to our Head Office and close to hearts of a number of our team members. Our chosen charity is AWARE, who support families with children and young adults on the autistic spectrum. CREATING OPPORTUNITIES

We believe in creating opportunities for young people, whether through apprenticeships or general recruitment, and have seen many start their careers with us over the years. A high proportion are still with us today, having gained experience and found their particular niche in the events industry, climbing the career ladder as they go.
