Through various fundraising activities in 2017, Universal Live and Universal AV raised £1,000 for hospice and neurological care charity Sue Ryder.

Sue Ryder runs seven hospices in the UK. Each one is unique and provides a mix of services designed to provide personalised support to their local community. They offer the people they support the choice of either being cared for at home or receiving inpatient care. They are there for people aged 18 and over living with conditions like cancer, heart failure and lung disease. They also offer a range of day services in the hospices, helping people stay at home longer and giving respite to their carers.

In addition to their hospices, Sue Ryder also have five neurological centres specialising in the care of people who have life-changing conditions affecting the brain and nervous system. These illnesses worsen over time and include conditions resulting from a brain or spinal injury, or a stroke. Like the hospices, the centres offer a wide range of support, from long-term residential care to health and wellbeing services, to help people improve or regain their abilities to remain independent at home, focusing on what the person can do and not what they can’t.

Representatives of Universal recently visited the Wheatfields Hospice in Leeds to meet with some of the team and see first-hand the amazing work they do providing exceptional services to their patients.

Following the visit, Kirsty Christmas, Senior Community Fundraiser thanked Universal for their donation to the Sue Ryder Hospice.
