Universal Live partners with local charity AWARE

Charity and supporting the local community are so important to us here at Universal Live. That’s why we’re so pleased to announce our new partnership with AWARE, who have had a very special place in our hearts for many years.

We will initially be supporting AWARE by providing them with a safe and secure meeting space for their weekly parental training groups with further fundraising activities to be announced in the forthcoming future. Keep an eye out for some weird and wacky team fundraising challenges!

Who are AWARE?

AWARE is a local parent-run group supporting families with children and young adults on the autistic spectrum (formal diagnosis not required).

Members include families and supporters, as well as health, education and social care professionals.

AWARE helps families through the maze of local services which cross health, social care and education boundaries. Advising them about accessing appropriate support from statutory, voluntary and private services, helping them to maximise their skills and achieve their full potential as an adult.

In addition, AWARE run a whole range of events and activities for children, young people, parents and carers, from regular parent and carer meetings to activities arrange for the children and young people that are fun with no judgement and pressure to conform.

More than 500,000 families in Britain are affected by Autism. The current rate of autism in the UK is 1.1% so more than 1 in 100 people is autistic

Why AWARE?

We have chosen AWARE as it is a charity that is very dear to Universal Live, it has supported one of our own team and their family on their journey through their excellent services, support groups and activities.

What they said:

“AWARE (Airedale and Wharfedale Autism Resource) was set up by parents for parents of autistic children and so we are especially pleased that Universal Live has chosen to support us to support our amazing members; we are all about being a team – and we are really looking forward to weird and wacky team fundraising challenges, too!”

What we said:

“It really was a no brainer for us to choose AWARE as our charity of choice. The support that they provide to families is second to none and we have seen first-hand how the charity can make a positive impact on families that they support.”
