Title: AV Manager
Reports to: Venue Account Manager
Location: Chesford Grange, Warwickshire
Salary: £28k – £30k (depending on experience) + overtime
Package: Overtime and bonus available (OTE £34k +)
What you’ll be doing:
Chesford Grange is one of Universal Live’s busiest hotel venues and a key client. We are looking for an AV Manager to deliver exceptional technical support, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality live events while bringing together Universal Live’s full range of services to create outstanding client experiences.
This role combines technical expertise with commercial awareness. The successful candidate will proactively identify opportunities to promote and upsell Universal Live’s services, helping to strengthen our partnership with the hotel and grow revenue.
The AV Manager will also lead and support an on-site technician, ensuring consistently high standards of service and technical excellence in a busy, fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate all AV requirements for hotel events.
- Build client relationships and identify upselling opportunities.
- Provide technical support to the hotel’s Sales and Events teams.
- Ensure AV equipment is set up to a high standard.
- Prepare event proposals and deliver successful events.
- Manage on-site AV equipment and stock.
- Maintain event schedules and weekly cost reports.
- Manage projects, with support for larger events.
- Work with hotel Operations to ensure rooms are AV ready.
- Manage the on-site technician and coordinate freelance support.
- Support additional hotel venues with AV services and equipment requirements.
What you’ll need to do it:
A proven interest in the live events industry, with hands-on experience and knowledge of audiovisual, sound, lighting, rigging, staging and event equipment. The ability to provide technical support and deliver high-quality event experiences is essential.
- Experience in a similar AV/event role
- Strong hands-on technical knowledge
- Experience within the hotel conference industry
- Ability to self-manage, work independently and as part of a team
- Strong people management and leadership skills
- Ability to use initiative and problem solve
- Excellent communication skills, including managing on-site technicians
- Client-facing, professional and well presented
- Flexible approach with ability to work overtime when required
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
- Hardworking, enthusiastic and reliable
- Full UK driving licence (minimum age 21, held for at least 1 year)
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office; Hiretrack knowledge an advantage
The small print:
- This is a permanent full time post commencing as soon as possible.
- There is a probation period of six months.
- This is a full-time post with occasional evening and weekend working, for which overtime/lieu time will be paid.
- Basic hours of work are normally 08:00-17:00 with a one hour lunch break.
- Salary for this post is dependent on experience and on completion of probation.
- The holiday leave year runs from 1 January to 31 December. Holiday entitlement for full-time employees is 23 days per annum, including three days between Christmas and New Year, plus bank holidays
