Have you Met... Louise?
Louise is the newest member of our team. She joins us at our Bradford HQ. Working in HR and recruitment since she was 16 years old, she has gained her CIPD qualification and wealth of experience in roles at Leeds University, Leeds College of Music, Yorkshire Water and Frog Education, as well as a start-up tech company which she brings with her in her new role our HR Manager.
She thrives in standalone HR roles in forward-thinking SME’s with around 80 employees – looks like Universal definitely ticks a lot of her career boxes. Louise loves people, learning from those around her and being around different cultures and personalities. She resides in beautiful Shibden Valley in Halifax with her awesome family and gorgeous greyhound, but let’s hear a little more about Louise, from… you guessed it, Louise.
What are you most looking forward to about your new role at Universal?
“Meeting all the new people, learning above Live and AV and trying to understand a completely different industry, oh and pizza lunch Tuesday’s! (That happens every week, right?!)”
What’s your favourite ice cream flavour?
“I wouldn’t ever order an ice cream – I am more of a traffic light lolly or calypso kind of girl, but if I had to then it would be good old fashioned vanilla, maybe mango if I am feeling a bit daring.”
What’s your proudest professional achievement so far?
“Proudest professional achievement is obtaining my CIPD postgraduate diploma and getting one of the highest scores in the class as well as conquering an extremely challenging first standalone HR role at Frog Education while juggling a 2 and a 3-year-old.

While we are here… how about a non-work achievement?
“My biggest non-work achievement hands down is the creation of 2 awesome, polite, clever little boys, who I know are just amazing and the coolest dudes ever.”
What’s your favourite part about HR?
“Hmmm….I suppose it’s a mixture of all the most wonderful, obscure, challenging, frustrating, awesome and downright stupid things you humans do on a daily basis, which I then have to be involved in or sort out, in some way!”
And finally, if someone gave you £1m what would you do with it?
“Apart from adopting the 8,000 retired greyhounds each year, I would open a little vintage café/tea-rooms and shop and dress up in 1940’s style hair, makeup and clothes every day, eat Victoria sponge cake and sip Yorkshire’s finest tea all day.”
